Radhey Radhey,
This year we will be celebrating both Dussehra and Sharad Purnima (91st Birthday of our
beloved Shri Maharajji) on Saturday 19th October 2013 from 11am- 5pm. The hosts Mr and Mrs Poudyal
& family invite everyone to join us on this special day.
Dussehra is the day that marks the triumph of Lord Ram over the demon king, Ravan. It signifies
the victory of good over evil. On this day, as a community celebration, huge
effigies of Ravan and his brother Kumbhkaran are burnt on an open ground or in
a park. Huge crowds cheer wildly as the effigies burn. The celebration of
Dussehra reminds us that we should burn the wrongs of our minds with the
devotion to God.
Sharad Poornima is extremely auspicious
for the devotees of Krishna, because it was on this full moon night of
October, five thousand years ago, that their beloved Lord revealed the glory of
selfless Divine love to the world by performing the Divine dance, maharaas,
with the Gopis.
Also on the full-moon
night of Sharad Poornima in October, 1922, in the village of
Mangarh, near the city of Allahabad in India, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
(whom we lovingly call Shri Maharajji) appeared on this earth at midnight. We will be celebrating the 91st birthday of Shri
Maharajji
Radhe Radhe,
